Since 1891, a place where history
& hospitality go hand in hand.

Among the city's most exclusive private clubs, the Metropolitan Club was founded by a group of prominent New Yorkers that included among them J. Pierpont Morgan, the first club President. Designed by Stanford White at the height of the American Renaissance, the Club is a social and architectural landmark, cherished by members and guests alike for more than a century.

Upon completion, the "Marble Palace", as described by the New York Times, was the largest and grandest of the area mansions. The clubhouse stands in its original location across from Central Park at the corner of Sixtieth Street and Fifth Avenue. It remains a pristine example of Gilded Age design.

In addition to a thriving membership, the Club is home to three floors of magnificent private event space where the most successful meetings and finest galas come to life.
